I saw Mr. and Mrs. Smith tonight. Just for the record, to anyone else who has seen it, that's not Bogotá. The whole theater erupted in laughter when they showed the image of a very small city, without a single building and surrounded with wild vegetation, and the words "Bogotá, Colombia" written at the bottom. Ok, I didn't expect to actually see my city, but at least show me something with buildings. This is a big city, not a small town. Also, I might live in the tropic, but I also live in a mountain, which means the weather here is cold. I was wearing a jacket and a scarf and they were showing Brad Pitt in front of a fan. *shakes head* [/rant ]

Now, besides that obvious lack of information, I loved the movie. Brad, Angelina, guns... *dies* I should go see it again. ^_^

Movie Meme

Because Anne said so...

1) Total number of films I own on DVD/Video:
Okay... I'm lame and I don't have a DVD player. I use my laptop to watch DVDs so I really don't own anything. Although I would give my first born for The Matrix trilogy. I do have, however, some burned DVDs, and about 180 moves taped.

2) The film I last bought:
I haven't bought a movie since... I can't even remember. Actually, I bought LOTR The Two Towers for my best friend's birthday about two years ago?

3) The last film I watched:
Last thing on theater, Kingdom of Heaven, last week. And on TV, well I'm re-watching Pirates of the Caribbean again right now.

4) Five films I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me:
- The Three Musketeers (The Disney version). I just love it. There are no words to explain how much.
- The Matrix (the three of them). I simply love the concept. The special effects, the world, the setting, the fights...
- Fight Club. Not just because you get to see Brad Pitt and Edward Norton shirtless, but because it's brilliant.
- Snatch. Again, it's not just because Brad Pitt is shirtless, but because it's amazing. One of those really cool movies.
- South Park. Bigger, Longer and Uncut. Just because it makes me laugh, every time.

5) Finally, tag five people to do this Meme:
If you want to, conceder yourself tagged.

Taken from Hex and Windsor.

1. In your mind, pick thirteen movies you really like.
2. Pick a quote/short exchange from each one; don't repeat movies.
3. Post and let everyone guess what movie the lines of dialogue come from (extra kudos if people can name the characters speaking and being spoken to!)
4. Cross out the quotes when someone guesses correctly.

WARNING: SPOILERS!

Oh what a movie. Yes, it was bad, but I knew that.

I loved it; it had everything I expected and more.

Massive destruction: check
Great visual effects: check
Short sappy scenes: check
The necessary good ending with the heroes beating all odds: check

Now this is what I really loved:

I'm safe. I always am. Colombia is always safe in these types of movies. While the north was destructed by tornados, the nice map showed that here, it would rain a bit.

But my favorite part had to be when the Mexicans closed the borders and the 'Americans' couldn't get in. Come on, you have to laugh at the irony. It's not that I don't like US citizens, some of my family lives there and many of you have shown me what a great people you are, but some of your policies really suck. (Yes, I'm channeling my 'third world' mind here).

Then, when a reported announced that Mexico had opened its borders due to an agreement with the US to forgive all Latin-American debt, the whole theater erupted in laughter. I normally don't get political but this is great!

Now, go see the movie and forgive all external debt! Ok, just go see the movie then. I'll keep laughing with my fellow Latin-Americans at our little private joke.

speak and spell
You're a Speak & Spell!! You nerd, you. Just
because you were disguised as a toy doesn't
mean you weren't educational, you sneaky
bastard.

What childhood toy from the 80s are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

Well, Hex said it Nerdy is Cool,

Oh and, Hex, I have a pressy for you. I suck making icons but I thought you would like it anyway.

In other news, I saw Troy.

I drooled after I saw Brad Pitt. I drooled at his sexy strong arms, at his perfect abs, at the golden skin and blond hair that looked just perfect with his clear eyes. I watched him move in the battle scenes, how the wind brushed his hair and how the armer and clothes looked so perfect on his skin. Yes, I drooled after seeing Achilles and after seeing Hector too. But I must say...

... I
... hated
... the movie!

Yes, yes, this is my literature student part talking but as much as I enjoyed the effects and good battle scenes, my mind (and my mouth since I do talk in movies) was screaming, no, No, NO!

Sad, it was just sad... Definitely not nearly as bad as Van Helsing but sad too. So much potential... all lost.
